Let's #KeepConwayCreative...

I do my hair toss, check my nails.

Why thank you, Lizzo, for the reminder.

My famous friend Jessica Jones (Mural Artist)

I do, in fact, have spit up in my hair — and my nails? Well they’re poop free, so that’s nice.

Baby how am I feelin’? Like I’m going to this mural launch party, right now. Hats were literally made to cover messy hair, amiright?!

It was exactly the kind of week a working mom’s nightmares are made of. Three (no wait, four) major deadlines, scheduling snafus, no babysitter in a 10 mile radius that’s available at the exact time you need them, and a client with a tech issue you’re checking on every couple hours over the weekend because well, it’s your job.

I needed a kid-friendly place to go and not talk about work or anything baby related, or maybe even not talk to other humans at all.

The Pollinator mural launch party was it.

Future artist in the making!

There was free coffee (Bless you, Blue Sail, bless you!) and an open place to just be inspired and hang out with people you enjoy. You could even meet new people if that’s what you’re into. Kids running around, coloring, getting crazy with the sidewalk chalk and playing hop scotch and best of all…

not a tv screen in sight.

I loved it.

I got to hear from city leaders about how they care about making Conway better through art.  I heard my friend speak about her inspiration for the Pollinator mural itself, and really hoped my 12 year old niece was taking note of the fact that you CAN in fact make a living through your art!

I even ran into some coworkers, and we had more to talk about besides work — we may or may not have started some husband basketball wars. What could go wrong with that?

There’s more to keeping Conway creative than commissioning art or having galleries, although those things are awesome. It’s inviting the spit-haired moms and the rest of the world to celebrate the creativity and enjoy it together.

So yeah, Lizzo, sing on. I’m feeling good as hell.
