This past year, I’ve had the opportunity to record drums via online collaboration for many songwriters and bands. It’s been a challenging yet unbelievably rewarding experience. Typically, the drums are the first thing to be tracked so it’s always fun to hear the final track after mixing and mastering.
I love seeing and hearing about musicians that are making things happen. I’m a big believer in home recording and the DIY mindset. I’m all about promoting like-minded musicians and studio clients. So, I’m starting a new “Artist Spotlight” here on the blog. (Contact me to discuss promoting you!)
Music creation is truly an art form. Not only is today’s artist spotlight a musician, he happens to be an actual artist!
Meet Marco Bucci
Based in Toronto, Marco Bucci is a free-lance artist. He does visual development, art direction, and matte painting for film, television, and video games.
In addition to drawing and painting, Marco writes his own music and is full-blown into the home studio scene. He credits a lot of his inspiration to sites such as The Recording Revolution, Home Studio Corner, SilverLake Studio (eh-hem) and The Home Recording Show.
Disbanded
Marco calls his current project “Disbanded” because every song will feature a very different lineup of musicians (some of whom will never even meet each other). He writes the basic raw material for the songs, then picks one of his musician friends to jam on it with to begin the demo process. Then in production, he tracks everything either from his home studio or collaborates with musicians online.
The first two tracks from his project are finished. According to Marco, the lineups and sound will vary greatly as the project unfolds. A special shout out to Andy Wilson who is Marco’s trusted mastering engineer and gets the final stab before the songs are released, which will always be free online.
